Privacy Policy

Who we are

Forage is operated by Matt Bessey, based in Bristol, UK. I'm the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach me at hello@forage.events.

What I collect

• Your email address, when you sign up.
• The events and organisers you save.
• Sign-in information — your IP address and browser details when you sign in. This is used to keep your account secure and prevent abuse.
• Anonymous usage data via Cloudflare Web Analytics. No cookies, no tracking across sites, no personal identifiers.

How I use it

I use your data to:

• Run your account and keep you signed in (legal basis: contract).
• Send you account emails like sign-in links and password resets (legal basis: contract).
• Keep the service secure and understand how it's used (legal basis: legitimate interest).

AI event extraction

Forage uses Cloudflare Workers AI to extract event details from web pages and emails, and to determine whether similar events from different sources are the same event. Your event titles and descriptions are sent to an AI model for processing. I don't use your data to train AI models, and Cloudflare doesn't either.

Who I share data with

I don't sell your data. I share it only with the services that help me run Forage:

• Cloudflare hosts the site and stores your data. (privacy policy)
• Cloudflare Workers AI processes event extraction and deduplication, as described above. (privacy policy)

Where your data is stored

Cloudflare operates globally, which means your data may be processed outside the UK or EEA — including in the United States. When this happens, I rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards required by UK GDPR to protect your data.

How long I keep it

I keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, I remove your data promptly. Backups may persist for a short time as part of normal operations, but aren't kept beyond what's needed.

Your rights

If you're in the UK or EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to how I use it. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@forage.events. You can also delete your account directly from your settings.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Security

I use industry-standard practices: encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted storage, and securely hashed passwords. That said, Forage is a personal project — I recommend using a strong, unique password and not storing especially sensitive information here.

Children

Forage isn't intended for anyone under 16, and I don't knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If I make material changes to this policy, I'll update the date at the top and email registered users.
